"Thanks" is not the 3rd particular person singular present active form of the verb ("He thanks his buddies for their enable") but a plural type of the noun that does not have a singular sort. We "give thanks" but we cannot "give thank," or "give a thank," or "provide the thank" (we also Will not "give the thanks," although when there is a limit to
